Laptop batteries are also with the pace of the rapid change in notebook, laptop technologies. Batteries are also going with the improvement phase as the notebook. Here I am describing some important categories of batteries and their advantages. There are three types of batteries available in the market. But with the emergence of nanotechnology, nano batteries are also available.

Nickel Cadmium- NiCd batteries are the oldest rechargeable batteries. They are of low cost and easy to manufacture. But the have disadvantages also. They are heavier and not so efficient. NiCd batteries have high output or discharge. Now everyone prefers lighter and longer in life. So  NiCd batteries are no longer being used in laptop.

Nickel Metal Hydride – After the age of NiCd , laptop manufacturers started using NiMH batteries and these are still being used  by many specially for older model laptops. NiMH batteries were big achievement towards laptop, notebook technology as these are more reliable than the NiCd batteries. Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) has more capacity than NiCd and contains less toxic metals. The NiMH battery is also cheaper to manufacture, and safer to use.

But it has one disadvantage also it has “memory effect”. if you don't discharge the battery fully, it can remember this and effect the performance and life of  battery output.

Lithium Ion – Now LiON batteries have overtaken all the previous laptop batteries and these are used in most new laptops. Li-ioN laptop batteries have no memory effect unlike NiMH. LiON batteries are also lighter than both the previously used NiCd and NiMH notebook batteries. Li-ion batteries feature rapid charging and superior performance.

But it has some disadvantages also. These batteries are considered flammable and can be damaged with overcharging. But they rarely catches fire.

Nanotechnology – Now the same Li-Ion batteries configured with nanotechlogy can produce 10 times more power.

Now a day many Laptop model are coming with Smart Batteries System equipped with internal microprocessor and does efficient power management. These SBS batteries are known in the market as Smart batteries.

However you will get guarantee from the laptop manufacturer about the battery life, which varies from 12-18 months. But battery can stop working or reduce its run-time even before the guarantee period. We can increase the battery life of a laptop by taking some simple measurement while working with laptop.

Below are the few tips to increase the laptop battery life.

1. Avoid frequent discharge of battery because it puts strain on lithium-ion battery. Best practice is recharge your battery before it gets discharge to 40% level.

Facebook one of the most popular social network site accessed by millions of user daily. Users will be uploading their pictures in the form of album to their profile with allowing access to their friends. But there is no download option in Facebook.
